A man and a woman have been rearrested on suspicion of murder after a baby boy died, police have said.
The three-month-old was seriously injured in an incident in Gloucester on Saturday and had been in a critical but stable condition.
He died on Sunday night.
Gloucestershire Police said a 20-year-old woman and 26-year-old man, who had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident in Archdeacon Street, had been rearrested on suspicion of murder.
A police spokeswoman said: "The baby has sadly died at Bristol Children's Hospital on Sunday evening.
"The man and woman arrested for attempted murder have now been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the case.
"They are still in custody.
