Police have launched a murder inquiry after two people were found dead at a home in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
The victims were discovered at a house in Dawson Avenue shortly after 12.15pm on Friday, Lincolnshire Police said.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the investigation and are being questioned.
Police are yet to release the victims' names because family members are still being informed.
Superintendent Paul Timmins said: "The events that unfolded in Spalding yesterday have understandably generated a great deal of local concern and upset.
"I would like to make clear that this type of crime is extremely rare and not something we often see.
"Indeed, we believe this is a completely isolated incident.
"This is very much an active investigation that is in its early stages and police would like people not to speculate as to the circumstances surrounding it.
"We are looking at a number of lines of enquiry and doing our utmost to get to the bottom of what has happened."
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Dawson Avenue area from 12pm on Wednesday to 12pm on Friday to come forward.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact the non-emergency number 101.
