Two girls have been charged with kidnapping a three-year-old in Newcastle city centre, Northumbria Police has said.
The teenagers, aged 13 and 14, were also charged with two counts of shoplifting.
A major search was launched after the three-year-old girl went missing from a Primark store on Northumberland Street at 4.55pm on Wednesday.
Officers scoured CCTV belonging to the council and local shops, and the child was found an hour later in Gosforth, several miles from where she was last seen.
Chief Inspector Dave Gould had earlier thanked those who helped reunite the little girl with her mother.
Both teenagers have been remanded in custody and will appear at North Tyneside Magistrates Court on Friday.
