OAP Kenneth Brooke in court charged with raping a six-year-old girl

The 75-year-old, from Kirkburton, was remanded in custody by Kirklees magistrates

A pensioner has appeared in court accused of raping a six-year-old girl.
Kenneth Brooke, of The Crescent in Kirkburton, was before Kirklees magistrates in custody yesterday.
The 75-year-old faces two charges of raping the child.
He also faces a further two charges of assault of a child aged under 13 by penetration.
Brooke is also accused of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity of a non-penetrative nature.
The offences are said to have occurred over a two year period starting in July 2014.
Brooke’s alleged victim was said to have been aged six at the time.
Frail Brooke spoke only to confirm his personal details during the brief hearing at the Huddersfield court.
He appeared to have trouble walking and was permitted to sit throughout the proceedings.
Magistrates told him that his case was so serious that it could only be dealt with by a crown court.
He will make his first appearance at Leeds Crown Court on March 22.
Brooke was remanded in custody in the meantime.
